How to Connect an Existing Stripe Account to TeamUp

This guide explains how to connect your existing Stripe account to TeamUp during the Stripe integration setup, what to expect during the process, and when to contact support for assistance.

Written by Costa Bontioti

📋 Overview

When you set up Stripe as your payment processor in TeamUp, you are redirected to Stripe's onboarding flow.

During this process, you may have the option to sign in to an existing Stripe account rather than creating a new one. However, connecting a pre-existing Stripe account may require additional steps or support assistance depending on your account configuration.

💡 Stripe typically allows only one third-party platform integration on a Stripe account at any given time. If your Stripe account is currently connected to another platform, you may need to disconnect that integration before connecting to TeamUp.

✅ Before You Begin

Before starting the Stripe integration process, review the following to help ensure a smooth connection.

🔑 Check for Existing Platform Connections

If your Stripe account is currently integrated with another platform or software provider, you may need to revoke that access first. While the other integration is active, Stripe may not allow a new third-party connection.

Keep in mind that during the gap between disconnecting one platform and connecting TeamUp, payments may not be processed through that Stripe account.

📋 Have Your Stripe Credentials Ready

You may need to sign in to your Stripe account during the integration flow. Make sure you have access to the email address and password associated with your Stripe account.

⚙️ How to Start the Stripe Integration

The Stripe integration is managed from your payment settings within TeamUp. Below are the steps to begin the process.

Click the arrow to learn how to start the Stripe integration

  1. Navigate to Settings Collect Payments Manage Payment Methods.

  2. Locate the Stripe option and select Integrate (or Connect with Stripe).

  3. You are redirected to Stripe's hosted onboarding flow.

  4. On the Stripe page, sign in to your existing Stripe account rather than creating a new account.

  5. Complete any verification steps Stripe may require.

  6. Once finished, you are redirected back to TeamUp.

⚠️ If you encounter an error during this process, or if the system creates a new Stripe Express account instead of linking your existing account, stop the process and contact TeamUp support.

Do not attempt to unlink and re-link on your own, as this may affect your payment setup.

🔍 After Connecting Your Stripe Account

Once the integration is complete, you may notice a few changes in your Stripe dashboard.

After integration, a connected account named "TeamUp" typically appears in your Stripe dashboard under Settings Profile Accounts. This is normal and represents the connection between your Stripe account and TeamUp.

💡 The account ID shown next to the "TeamUp" entry in your Stripe Profile may be needed if you later need to migrate customer card details. Keep a note of this ID for your records.

📞 When to Contact Support

Some connection scenarios may require assistance from the TeamUp support team.

  • A new Stripe Express account was created instead of linking your existing account.

  • You see an error when trying to integrate after unlinking a previous Stripe account.

  • Your existing Stripe account does not appear as an option during the onboarding flow.

  • You are unsure whether your current Stripe account is compatible with TeamUp's integration.

In these cases, reach out to TeamUp support for guidance. Connecting a pre-existing Stripe account may require manual configuration that is not available through the self-service setup.
