If you sell products that you post out to customers, you can charge them for postage at checkout. There are two ways to do this, and this guide explains both so you can choose the one that suits how you ship.
The two options are a shipping fee that applies automatically to store orders, or a separate shipping product that customers add to their cart themselves.
š” As an alternative to both, you could factor your postage costs into the price of each product instead of charging separately.
š Option 1: Add a Shipping Fee
A shipping fee is set up in your payment settings and applies automatically to store orders. This is the better option if you want postage added for you, without the customer having to do anything.
From the Taxes and Fees section (Settings ā Payment), create a fee that applies to store purchases, such as a flat "Shipping" fee. The customer then sees it applied at checkout.
To set this up:
Go to Settings and click on Collect Payments

Click on Create a Tax/Fee under Taxes and Fees

Name the fee, select Store Purchases, set the Fee Type to "Flat Amount", set the fee amount, and click Save.

Now, when a customer goes to purchase an item from your store, the cost of store items has been adjusted to include the shipping fee.

š¦ Option 2: Create a Shipping Product
Alternatively, you can add postage as its own product in your Store, priced at whatever you want to charge per order. This gives you a shipping line the customer chooses themselves.
Create a new store product named something like "Shipping", and set its price to your postage charge. Because it is a product rather than an automatic fee, customers need to add it to their cart themselves, so it is worth saying this in the product description.
ā ļø Customers must add a shipping product to their cart manually. Unlike a shipping fee, it is not applied automatically.
