Have you ever wondered if you can link TeamUp with your favourite email automation system or other software? With Zapier, you probably can.

This help guide will explain the principles, what you can and can’t do, and will link to other guides as we build them out.

Zapier themselves offer a range of powerful help guides so we’ll also link to those where relevant.

What is Zapier?

Zapier is connecting software. It takes data from one app (via what is known as an api) and sends it to another app via what is known as a Zap.

It connects with 1,500+ software platforms and counting. Most of the software you use is likely already connected with Zapier and this now includes TeamUp.

Zapier has several plans from free to paid. You can read more here: https://zapier.com/app/billing/plans

The TeamUp connector is provided at no additional charge.

What can you achieve with this new feature?

This new feature opens the door to a lot of advanced functionality, particularly for marketing.

You can take customer or membership information from TeamUp and automatically send it to any number of platforms including ActiveCampaign, Mailchimp, Infusionsoft and thousands more. We link to specific guides at the bottom of this article for common use-cases.

What you do with that data once you have it offers a huge number of possibilities, but some examples are: sending a welcome email series, triggering a text message when someone purchases a trial, creating an audience list in advertising platforms and many many more.

Coming soon! As extra help we plan to create a set of Templates for you. These are pre-made connectors to the apps we hear most about from you.

How do I connect Zapier to my TeamUp account?

You’ll need to create a Zapier account if you haven’t already got one.

Once you have a Zapier account you’ll be able to connect TeamUp via this link, or search for TeamUp here.

Triggers

A Trigger is the event that starts a Zap i.e. when a customer profile is created, or a membership is purchased. Once you've set up a Zap, Zapier will monitor for that trigger event in your TeamUp account.

At launch, we have created 6 triggers which we will explain below. We’re always keen to learn about new requirements, so please let us know if there’s anything else that would be helpful.

Trigger 1: Customer Updated

Customer updated is sent to Zapier when something changes on a customer profile. This could include:

  • Email address or name
  • A field, for example an answer to an injury question

The data sent to from TeamUp to Zapier when this happens includes:

  • First name
  • Last name
  • Profile fields including emergency contacts, address and any other custom fields you created using the TeamUp Customer Fields feature and are collected on a Form.
  • URL for their profile photo
  • Email
  • Other TeamUp specific data like profile ID number

Customer Created is very similar to Customer Updated with the exception that it just runs once when a customer is created. The set of data that is sent also similarly includes:

  • Dates and usage summary
  • Other TeamUp data including membership ID

Trigger 4: Customer Membership Started

Customer Membership Started runs when a customer membership starts.

  • Name and description of the membership
  • Start date
  • Expiration date
  • Recurring billing schedule and description
  • Customer profile fields including name and email
